Edmund made his 11 year old son William a Ward of the Crown. The boy was appointed Page to Prince Henry, then aged 2 years, who later became King Henry VIII.

Ch Gentleman Bedchamber, Usher Black Rod, Keeper Privy Purse to Henry VIII, fought Battle of Spurs 1513, Chllr Ireland, at Field of Cloth of Gold.
William was made a Ward of the Crown by his father. He became a Page to Prince Henry, then aged 2 years, who later became King Henry VIII. The friendship of King and Courtier lasted until William's death in 1528.
He was knighted for gallantry at the Battle of Tournai in 1512 and the King also granted a very special priviledge of adding to his coat of arms the Royal Lion of England.
