Ralph Shelton was Knighted in 1485 and named Knight of the Garter in 1488.
High Sheriff of Norfolk.
Inherited lands from his Uncle, William Shelton, the 18th Lord of Shelton - he inherited, Sheton, Harwick, Netherhall, Overhall, Great Snoring, Thursford and Burgulion in Kerdeston and Brent Elleigh and Stradbroke in Suffolk.
He had a grant from King Henry VII of 'The Custody and Marriage of the Body and Lands of Ralph, Brother and Heir of Robert Berney, Esq. of Gunton'.
Sir Ralph and his wife Margaret Clere built Shelton Church of 1480. He also built the Shelton Hall which was situated half a mile from the church.
There are possibly some Shelton tombs within the above mentioned church. (the church was still standing in 1925).
