Her brass formerly read "Here lyeth hydd under this stone t he wyfe of Sir Philip Calthorpe, knt., and clepyd Dame Jane, the dowght er of one John Blennerhassatt, Esq., he hyght, She loved God's Worde, a nd lived lykewise, She gave to the Poor and prayed for the rich, She rul ed her Howse in Messuer and Sysse ane spent as it came, and gathered not m oche. The day of Spryll, twenty and seven God did call her from hense on to Havven 1550.[Brasses and Slabs, Stephenson].
