The family most probably descended from the Coltmans of Leicester, but t he exact proof is wanting. I have added the pedigree from papers in the po ssession of Mrs.Pocklington Coltman of Hagnaby.

From Lincolnshire Archives deposit Yorke and Dallas-Yorke of Walmsgate
A distinguished soldier of the Madras Army, who served under Sir Eyre a nd Maquis Wellesley. He was descended from George Dallas, deputy keep er of the Signet to James VII and II, and handed down to his grandson t he monach's Privy Seal of Scotland which was a family heirloom. Sir Thom as introduced a martial tradition to the Yorke family.
