He fought in the Boxer Rebellion in 1900, where he won a medal with clas p. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Indian A rmy. He was invested as a Campanion, Order of the Indian Empire [C.I.E. ]. He held the office of Under-Secretary to the Foreign Office. He w as in the Indian Police Department. He was invested as an Officer, Ord er of the British Empire [O.B.E.].
Died aged 78.
